The place for all your Vrieze Family information

The Vrieze Family is made up of a collaboration of individual family members who come together often as a whole to cause the world more strife and confusion than traditional family units do.  We are committed to attempting things that most families would not, to allowing ideas to become reality and most importantly, never letting age get in the way of adventure.

3rd annual Renewable Energy Trip Planned

The 3rd annual trip to the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM on Friday June 19th.  When asked to comment, John Vrieze said he is going to be rushing home from a trip to New York so he doesn't miss the trip.  We will be departing from John Vrieze's house at 5:00 PM on the 19th and will be taking the bus.  We will arrive at Mickey's around 7:30 PM for Pizza, and then proceed to Doug Bolier's for a night of camping out on the basement floor.  On Saturday we will be getting up early and going to the fair, and will return to John's late Saturday afternoon.  Click here for a link to the energy fair.

Grandma Wins Awards!

While at dinner in Madison on 5/13/09 Grandma informed Char and Josh that she had just won 2 awards for work.  The first was $50 for working the last 35 years.  The 2nd award, also for $50 was for the least amount of survey refusals.  What that means is that out of her 60 co-workers Grandma was the one with the least amount of people refusing to do the survey.  When asked about it, she commented she doesn't take no for an answer, and she's very persistent.

While talking about the award for working the last 35 years, Char pointed out that was just over $1 per year, to which Grandma commented,"well when you put it that way that doesn't sound like much of anything does it".   Grandma then proceeded to blow the $100 on dinner and drinks.

 100 Year Vrieze Farm Event

A great day was had by all.  The weather turned out to be fantastic, the family had a great time, and the event went off without a hitch.  Team Awesome went on to take the championship place in the Volleyball Tournament.  It was nice to see many different family members from all areas as well as the great support from the town of Baldwin and surrounding areas.

Thanks to John and Baldwin Dairy for putting on such a great event and their generousity providing breakfast and beverages.   I and many others took advantage of the opportunity to ride the mechanical bull and felt the wrath of it!  Bruises, cuts and shattered egos were present throughout the four hours.  Below you can see John taking care of the bull and an itch all at once.  Now that is skill and coordination!
